Hi Gang…

Another one of our “Undiscovered Classics” cars has made its debut this past weekend on the lawn of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  This special car was an Allied Swallow that appeared in the Preservation Class and is owned by Scott and Celesta Boses.  We couldn’t be more happy for Scott and Celesta on the showing of their Allied Swallow on a perfect California Sunday.  Congratulations to both of them 🙂

Concerning this Allied Swallow, we originally tracked it down using a tried and true method – a classified ad.  But this classified ad was from Road & Track in July, 1957 – over 50 years from when the ad was originally placed.  We found out that when the car didn’t sell, the owner kept the car in the garage – the same one noted in his classified ad.  In our search for history and tracking down classified ads, we’ve actually found other cars this way.  As I’ve always said….”the cars are out there” gang.

As For Pebble Beach….

Scott Boses and his “preservation” crew got to work some time ago putting the mechanicals back in shape on his Allied Swallow with careful attention to keeping it in “as-found” condition concerning the drivetrain, paint and interior.  Scott’s team did a great job on all aspects of the vintage sports car as can be seen in the photos taken by David Conwill of Hemmings Motor News at Pebble Beach.  Thanks for sharing the photos David.

Undiscovered Classics and Concours Appearances…

“Undiscovered Classics” cars – both ones we own and others we have sold – have been appearing with more frequency on the concours fields in the past several years.  The most recent appearance was last month where our 1953 Kaiser Dragon, now owned by Sam Haberman, appeared at the Concours d’Elegance of America in Plymouth Michigan.  In fact, what made this more impressive was that Car and Driver Magazine highlighted Sam’s Kaiser Dragon as one of their 10 favorite cars of the concours.

In addition to the appearances above, there are upcoming appearances of Undiscovered Classics cars – now curated by new owners – which include:

1952 Glasspar Appearance at the November, 2019 Cigar City Concours at Tampa, Florida

1952 Voodoo Gardner at the March, 2020 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance at Amelia Island, Florida

So what was quietly celebrated by a dedicated group of enthusiasts for many years seems to be now catching a bit of “fire.” More and more appearances of these cars are seen across the country with new owners who have caught the excitement of restoring and showing their postwar American specials to a wider, receptive and enthusiastic audience.
