The 1949 Packard Monte Carlo

106 “Arbib told Packard historian George Hamlin, in a 1975 conversation, during which time Hamlin acquired the illustrations used here related to this subject, that the car was given to a local (Freeport, Illinois) dealer to use for publicity purposes. The dealer altered the side trim to some extent and began using it as his personal car. Arbib said he had no idea what eventually happened to the car. In spite of the lack of success of this particular venture, Henney, of course, continued building professional cars on Packard chassis and continued to retain Richard Arbib as a contract stylist. It was Arbib who designed the next generation 24th Series Henney cars and who designed the 1952 Packard Pan American show cars which inspired the line of Packard Caribbeans which followed.”
