Therefore, they could be additional cars that aren’t on the list above or they could be one of the missing / lost cars—or even one of the existing cars (except the crushed car). • Car 8: Five photos of crushed / destroyed Clipper reported and photographed by Nick Mander • Car 9: Two photos of Clipper on the street (most likely same car as photos of Car 10) • Car 10: Three photos of car shown in Allard Clipper Press Release on October 18, 1954 (most likely same as Car 9) Exported Cars (2 cars) • Car 11 & 12: Two Allard Clippers reportedly exported to USA—Tom Lush Allard book (1977) Production Estimate: Tom Lush (1977) and others have mentioned about 20 cars being produced. Tom Lush also reduced the number to 5 cars in the 1990s. In 2009, the British Motor Manufacturers website (www.britishmm.co.uk—no longer active) stated that of the original intended run of 100 cars, only 22 were completed. The chassis numbers above “CA 111”, “CA 118” and “CA 131” suggest at least 20 chassis—hence cars—were potentially built. This confirms the approximate number of “20” that has been offered as production numbers by several people from the period. However, we’ve only found 3 cars/chassis so it’s unlikely we’ve found the first car and the last car built (chassis’ CA 111 and CA 131 respectively). It stands to reason, a few more than 20 Allard Clippers were built—perhaps the number “22” is on target.
