6 Victress S1 The Victress S1 was built from 1952 thru 1961 and then LaDawri Coachcraft continued building these cars thru 1965. Approximately 125 cars and bodies were built. The black Victress in the movie was built by Virgil Rice of Hellings Company and was one of the first Victress S1s built with Studebaker power. The driver in Johnny Dark was Don Freeland who gained his experience racing in the Indianapolis 500 in the 1950s.
