7 1946 Bill Burke Belly Tank Streamliner (2009) Started in 2008 and debuted during Speed Week at Bonneville, Utah in 2009, this car was a collaboration with the legendary Bill Burke and our Undiscovered Classics team. Burke is known as the “ father of the wing tank ” and our collaboration brought back the first of his belly tanks—one that was destroyed in 1947. Since the original streamliner was not available to restore, we started creating the car from parts—guided by Bill Burke at each step of the way. Once finished, the tank first showed at Bonneville, and then went on for a six month display with other famous Bill Burke race cars and streamliners at the NHRA Museum in Pomona, California. Immediately after the display the streamliner was transported to the 2010 Amelia Island Concours d ’ Elegance for a display and its east coast debut. Our Burke streamliner made its next appearance at the Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d ’ Elegance and then permanent display at the Sarasota Classic Car Museum in Sarasota, Florida. Recently it was sold to the Justice Brothers Racing Museum in Duarte, California where it ’ s on permanent public display to enjoy. By the way, it runs and drives great. You can check out videos of it at Bonneville and our website too.
